Case Description
HI I am going into a little more detail about my bonding of my two bottom teeth Their was no decay, the dentist was fixing all my teeth which cost me a pretty penny even with ins. The bonding of course was cosmetic so not covered at all She was just covering a gap in the front I was in bed when I felt something weird I freaked out the whole piece which felt like a couple of inches of plastic came out I was wondering would using a straw all the time to drink be afactor Why it would it come off so quick ? What care would I have to do next time I flossed all the time and brushed also!

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Dear Patient,There are many factors that could have contributed to the failing of this bonding. It could be the way your teeth bite together, or the amount of tooth structure used to gain support for this bonding, or the way you flossed or ate on this tooth. For this tooth you should be careful not to use it for biting an apple for example, and not floss up and down rather floss then pull the floss through. At any case, you should go to your dentist, she will most likely redo it for you at no charge, given this bonding was done very recently. Also explore other more permanent options with your dentist like veneer or crown.

I am familiar with your situation. Bonding to upper and lower front teeth can be a challenge. I usually explain to patients that since there is no decay we will try to remove as little tooth structure as possible. This approach can often lead to a restoration which can come off. I usually make a large bevel (create a large bondable surface) which remedies the situation. I also use different bonding agents and different composites depending on the area of the tooth I am working on. You probably did nothing wrong, I tell my patients that they should be able to bite into an apple with the restorations I create.
